How it works
No surprises. Here is exactly what happens, from the first message to the end of the visit.
- You askUse the form. Tell me what is happening, in your own words.
- I confirmYou choose from the times I really have. I look at your request and confirm, usually within a day. Nothing is booked until you hear it is confirmed.
- You get a reminderThe day before, by email. If you do not use email, I can phone you instead.
- I helpOn the day I explain what I find and what it will cost before I begin. You say go, or you say no thank you.
- You pay afterwardsBy card, Zelle or cash, once you are happy.
If I come to your home or office
- I arrive at the time we agreed, and I will text if I am running late.
- Please have the devices out, the chargers handy, and somewhere comfortable to sit together.
- A family member or friend is very welcome to sit in.
- I keep my hands on what you asked me to help with, and I tell you before I change anything.
If we do it by phone and screen (remote help)
- Please sit at the computer, switched on and connected to the internet, with your phone beside you.
- I guide you to start a secure session. You can see everything I do, and you can end it at any moment.
- I will never ask for your passwords. If one is needed, you type it yourself while I look away.
- When we finish, the connection is closed and I no longer have any way in.
Scams: how to know it is really me
People who help with computers are sometimes impersonated. Here is how you can be sure about me:
- You contacted me first. I never phone out of the blue about a "problem with your computer".
- I will never ask for a gift card, a wire transfer, cryptocurrency or a card number up front.
